Robert Heyer -- Watercolor Workshop - for all levels Saturday, May 17, 2014 - 10am – 3pm - Roxbury Library - $40 per person. Share a fun-filled day of exploring this exciting media – Watercolors! Making it behave and taking advantage of its spontaneous nature. Robert Heyer explains that working in the medium does not always produce the look that people may expect. "I don’t paint a photographic-type painting. I do a freer, looser version" he says. Bob enjoys educating people and working with students who are somewhat timid with watercolors. His goal is to show them that with the right tools, it can be a fun and exciting medium.

About the Artist: Robert E. Heyer graduated from the Newark School of Fine & Industrial Art. Bob has developed a national reputation as a painter, teacher and literary contributor to art magazines and has received numerous awards and honors for his artwork. His paintings have appeared in many exhibitions and juried art shows and are held in both private and corporate collections. His paintings have been featured in Watercolor magazine, The Best of Watercolors, International Artist Magazine, American Artist Magazine, Color Magazine and The Collected Best of Watercolor. Heyer currently teaches watercolor painting workshops to advanced, intermediate and beginner students in classrooms throughout N.J.. He is a full member of the Garden State Watercolor Society, a fellow member of the American Artists Professional League, a signature member of the New Jersey Watercolor and the PA Watercolor Societies and a full member of the New Jersey American Artists Professional League. Heyer has also been a recipient of the New Jersey Watercolor Society’s Coveted Silver Medal Award.

27 Olcott Square (Rt. 202), Bernardsville, NJ 07924   908-766-2720 This instructional series will address a variety of topics that challenge all artists. The purpose of this series is to allow artists to have the benefit of instruction by nationally known instructor Kenn Backhaus in an affordable and manageable manner. There will be two instructional opportunities to study with Kenn, either as a SINGLE-DAY INSTRUCTIONAL SERIES spanned over a couple of months period, with the artist choosing from a number of various single-day topics. The other opportunity would be an ON-GOING INSTRUCTIONAL MENTORING SERIES, where the artist will sign up for at least two consecutive single-day sessions. At the end of the first day's session, Kenn will give a challenging assignment that the artist will work on and bring to the next scheduled workshop session to be reviewed, if the artist chooses to participate.

Kenn Backhaus is a Master Member in Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society, as well as a member and past President of Plein Air Painters of America. Kenn has been teaching nationally for over 15 years and has been the acceptance judge and awards judge for many national shows across the country. With his artist career beginning in the early 1970's, Kenn brings years of experience in dealing with these challenges. Artists have the flexibility of taking one class, several classes or the full series.
