AUCTION

Update: $1000 raised on November 1,  2007

SUPPORT WORTHY ART CAUSES!

Our annual fund-raising auction will take place at the November 1 meeting. With the proceeds we will donate second place awards in the various media categories for the annual “All Media Art Show for Morris County Seniors and Persons with Disabilities” and donate money to the P.G. Chambers School in Cedar Knolls for the purchase of art supplies.

The evening will include both a silent auction of smaller items and a live auction of the more valuable offerings. We will also have a nice buffet meal, provided by the membership. Come with family and friends to have a lot of fun and support a good cause!

Of course the success of the auction depends on member generosity. If you are having a garage sale or cleaning out, consider saving some quality items that could be donated for this event. Some possible donations:

Art-Related Items: New or good condition paints, brushes, pads, portfolios, canvases, books, paintings, prints, crafts, craft supplies -- you name it! If it's a supply that either artist or craftsperson can use, we want it at the auction!

Other Items: Either new or nearly new items that can standalone as an item for auction or a related combination of items together (with a theme). Also kindly consider soliciting a store or shop for a donation for this event or perhaps making up a basket of items yourself. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! Any questions, please contact Caroline Goldsmith.

Caroline will be able to pick up any item that will fit into an extra-size car trunk - just call her about the size. If you have any additional suggestions or have a question, call auction chair Caroline Goldsmith at 908-684-8765.

We are thankful for the success of our auction last year; we raised over $1300 for our outreach program. Thanks again to Barbara Bromirski and her team for a great job in organizing it and to all of you who supported the cause with your contributions and bidding. Proceeds were be donated to:

  •  $250 in second place awards for the annual "All Media Art Show for Morris County Seniors and Persons with Disabilities".

  •  $750 to the P.G. Chambers School for the purchase of art supplies. The Chambers School is a state approved private school that provides special education for students with multiple disabilities, ages 3 to 14 years old, from 9 counties in northern NJ. The school combines individualized education programs and therapy services with physical education, art and music classes, and student clubs.

Fund Raising

Artwork Donations Needed for Fundraiser

Artwork donations would be greatly appreciated for an annual auction fundraiser to benefit the Sussex County Interfaith Hospitality Network (SCIHN). This worthwhile community resource is to aid in the temporary housing of homeless women and families in local churches and synagogues and is manpowered by numerous hours of volunteer support. There have been many rewarding stories, nationally and locally, of success in reestablishing people in their own homes. Sussex County hosted this annual fundraising dinner-auction in March at Perona Farms in Sparta. Artwork can be any medium, any style, matted, framed or unframed, original or print, or sculpture. Please provide retail value of item. Artwork intended for donation should be brought to the February or March meeting. Contact Jill Dickerson at petejill@ptd.net

Many thanks to our members who contributed towards this worthy cause: Maryellen Facile-Cyphers, Wendy Stamer, Susan Hammond, Alice Harrison, Linda Finkestein, Tonii Gehrmann and Jill Dickerson. Last year's donations made an impressive impact on our fundraising efforts.
