AUCTION - Nov. 3, 2011

SUPPORT WORTHY ART CAUSES!

Art Lovers Auction to Benefit Local Charities

Download Auction Materials:  Auction Brochure    Artists' Auction Form

Last year's auction was a huge success, with net proceeds of $1254, nearly twice what we received last  year. Thanks to all of our members who worked so hard to make it a success. The  money received was donated to various charities.

The Art Association in Roxbury will be holding its annual Art Lovers Auction at the Roxbury Senior Center, 72 Eyland Ave., Succasunna, NJ on Thursday, November 3rd.  This year’s art auction will feature original works of art by local artists. This is a good chance to obtain beautiful paintings to decorate your home or as holiday gifts. AAR members will be donating both small and large paintings in all media and styles, so there should be something for everyone’s tastes. If you love art or need a gift for an art lover, this is the place to go.

All proceeds will go to support the arts. This year the Art Association in Roxbury will concentrating on raising money for five different charities. The organization will be donating money to fund the awards for the annual “All Media Art Show for Morris County Seniors and Persons with Disabilities” and money to be used for art supplies at the P.G. Chambers School in Cedar Knolls. They will also present art scholarships to Roxbury High School graduates and County College of Morris fine arts students. Lastly the organization plans to make a donation to the Roxbury Recreation Center for the Senior Center, where the Art Association in Roxbury holds its monthly meetings..

In addition to lots of paintings, there will be some new and gently used items to inspire your creative spirit including paints, brushes, pads, portfolios, canvases, books, paintings, prints, crafts, and craft supplies. Other items have been donated by local merchants. These are all perfect for the gift-giving season. The success of the auction depends on member generosity. If you are having a garage sale or cleaning out, consider donating quality art-related items. Possible donations: new or good condition paints, brushes, pads, portfolios, canvases, books, paintings, prints, crafts, craft supplies -- you name it! If it's a supply that either artist or craftsperson can use, we want it at the auction! Either items that can stand alone or a related combination of items together (with a theme). Also kindly consider soliciting a store or shop for a donation or perhaps making up a basket yourself. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

There will be a silent auction of the smaller paintings and items, followed by a live auction of the more valuable items and paintings. A light buffet meal will be served before the auction begins. Members of the Art Association in Roxbury reside in many towns in Northwest New Jersey, including towns in Morris, Sussex, Warren, and Somerset counties.

Come with family and friends to have a lot of fun and support a good cause! The silent auction will begin at 6:30 pm and the live auction at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Contact Caroline Goldsmith with questions at (908) 684-8765.

Remember to send your form for the 50/50 entries to the 2011 November Action to Anastasia Mancuso either by e-mail AGMancuso@msn.com or snail-mail by October 21st.  We have decided to also accept the completed forms on the night of the auction. Annette amlange@verizon.net would love to have jpegs of art work being submitted to the 50%/50% live auction for publicity use. One clarification in the silent table auction instructions: “original artwork” may include your original paintings, photographs, good prints of an original, etc. (like last year). In the description on the form, just say whether it is an original or a print, etc., like “print of an orig. watercolor” or “original watercolor”.

Questions: Email or call Joan Winter joanewinter@aol.com or 908-832-0347, who created the forms, or call Caroline Goldsmith, the auction chair (908-684-8765).

Fund Raising

Artwork Donations Needed for Fundraiser

Artwork donations would be greatly appreciated for an annual auction fundraiser to benefit the Sussex County Interfaith Hospitality Network (SCIHN). This worthwhile community resource is to aid in the temporary housing of homeless women and families in local churches and synagogues and is manpowered by numerous hours of volunteer support. There have been many rewarding stories, nationally and locally, of success in reestablishing people in their own homes. Sussex County hosted this annual fundraising dinner-auction in March at Perona Farms in Sparta. Artwork can be any medium, any style, matted, framed or unframed, original or print, or sculpture. Please provide retail value of item. Artwork intended for donation should be brought to the February or March meeting. Contact Jill Dickerson at petejill@ptd.net

Many thanks to our members who contributed towards this worthy cause: Maryellen Facile-Cyphers, Wendy Stamer, Susan Hammond, Alice Harrison, Linda Finkestein, Toni Gehrmann and Jill Dickerson. Last year's donations made an impressive impact on our fundraising efforts.
