The Art Association in Roxbury provides its members with places to exhibit and sell their work. Our annual Members' Spring Show is the highlight of the season.

To all our friends who appreciate art and want to maintain venues for artists.  We need to give our support to the activities at the Oasis Cafe - Arts Center & Gallery in Long Valley. www.oasiscafelv.com. Stop in for a visit and express your support for what they are doing. Let's not lose another gallery.

Chris and Derek Pyle have really fixed up the Arts Building in Long Valley and have opened the Oasis Cafe with a wonderful art gallery space. They are open from 12 noon until 5 Sunday -Thursday, and noon until 10 PM Fri & Saturday. Yes, 7 days a week!! The gallery space provides wonderful opportunities for all artists to exhibit. If you are looking for a place to exhibit your art work in the future, this is the place for you. Exhibits will change approximately every 60 days. The walls are currently covered with art by local artists.

AAR Exhibit at Morris County Library

An opportunity has opened up for an AAR exhibit at the Morris County Library in August. Elmer is waiting to receive the dates for receiving and pick-up from the exhibits coordinator. The membership needs to vote on approving this exhibit for August. As we have done in the past, there would be no awards or judging of the Library exhibit, and the number of pieces members could exhibit would depend on the number of members participating. More information will follow.

Roxbury PAC at Horseshoe Lake

Elmer met with Roxbury Councilman Chris Smith and reviewed the possibility of exhibiting at the Roxbury PAC at Horseshoe Lake. They do not have a lighting system or hanging system installed yet. He reviewed a variety of options for hanging and lighting systems, and Chris will start to gather information about the costs of the various alternatives. They are also interested in student exhibits there, which would require some type of corkboard panel system along the walls.

Art in the Atrium

There will be an Opening Reception for Art in the Atrium on Jan. 29th, one of the Arts Council of the Morris Area local arts grant recipients which does wonderful work curating an annual exhibit of excellent art by African American artists. This year there are two receptions, an opening one on January 29th and a closing one on March 18th. These are free and open to the public and you are certainly welcome to attend. There's even free parking!.
