Congratulations to AAR MembersThree AAR members were honored at the Essex Water Color Club exhibit in Bernardsville. Jinnie May won an award of Excellence, Carol Manochio won the Joe Kubert Art Supply Award of Merit for her watercolor and Gouache "The Wedding", and Maria de Mos won the Canson Paper Award of Excellence.Jinnie May was the recipient of the Xylem Award for her entry in the North East Water Color Society show in Kent, CT. Jinnie May is the 2009 recipient of the NJWCS Silver Medal of Honor. This highest award is presented annually by the New Jersey Watercolor Society, at the Annual Open Juried Show reception, to a member who has demonstrated both excellence with an entry to the annual show as well as provided superior service in the Society. The reception was in October 2009 at the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft, NJ. Doris Schwint has won the first place award at the Sussex County Senior Exhibit for her acrylic painting "Spring Glory". The painting will go to the State Sr. Exhibit. Toni Gehrmann won a blue ribbon for pastels at the State Fair of New Jersey, the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show in 2009. Liz Wallace won 1st place in the professional Oil Painting category in the Sussex County Senior Citizens Juried Art Show. It will be included in the 43rd NJ Senior Citizens Annual Juried Art Show held in Meadow Lakes, East Windsor from Sept.28 to Oct.30, 2009. Jean Davidson won an award of Excellence at the New Jersey Watercolor Society Associate Members' exhibit at the Bernardsville Library. She also had a monoprint accepted for the Printmaking Council of New Jersey exhibit, "What It Means To Be Human", which will also travel to Johannesburg, Africa. Doris Schwint has won a Gold Award at the State Woman's Club State Convention in Atlantic City for a pastel painting. She also won two Gold Awards at the tenth district Woman's Club Spring conference for a watercolor and pastel painting in 2009. Jinnie May and Maria de Mos both won awards at the
21st annual Skylands juried art exhibition and sale at the Sussex County Arts &
Heritage Council Exhibit in
Caroline L.C. Goldsmith has won in the Warren County Senior Art show in
the Professional category - Second Place for oils and First Place in Pastels; as
well Lorraine Robertson will be exhibiting for the month of June at the Morris County Library. Fran Franklin’s watercolor painting "We Could See for Miles" was accepted in the Garden State Watercolor Society 40th Annual Juried Exhibition, on view through the month of April at Prallsville Mills in Stockton, N.J. Phyllis Drouin received an Honorary Mention Award for her Pastel painting, "Cinque Terre, Italy" at St. Catherine of Bologna Patron of the Arts Association Photo, Art & Poetry Exhibition. Phyllis is a Volunteer on the Executive Board as Treasurer for PSNJ (Pastel Society of New Jersey). Jinnie May has been juried in as a signature member of The Baltimore Watercolor Society. In addition she has a painting in the BWS's 2009 Juried Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition from April 11-May 23, 2009 in Bethesda, MD. Jinnie May won The Edith Strange Memorial Award at Baltimore Watercolor Society's Mid-Atlantic Regional Juried Watercolor Exhibition and The Harriet Kaftanic Memorial Award at the Garden State Watercolor Society's 40th Annual Juried Exhibition, in Stockton, NJ in March 2009. Karen Tighe won an award of merit at the PSNJ juried show at Crane's Mill Gallery. Maryann Didriksen won an honorable mention at the same show. Mark de Mos received an award at the 29th Annual Regional Open Juried Show organized by the Ridgewood Art Institute. Elmer Dey closed out his showing at the Oasis Cafe with a reception and watercolor demonstration in January that was a hit. Last Updated: 11/03/2009
